Really solid unit from Sony. Everything works well and as advertised. The touch feature, While the touch screen is not as responsive as say an Iphone screen it is good and even works with gloves on. The only thing I would have liked at this price point is full wireless bluetooth for all features cant believe they can make that work without a wired connection.

Lacks Critical Features and Android Auto is a Fail

XAVAX5600 27/03/2022 by Paranha (Canada) Verified Purchaser Verified

Despite the marketing info, product specs and even the box stating that it has Voice Control with Android Auto it lacks voice control over Bluetooth. I have been able to voice dial calls for at least the past decade on other head units over BT but now I can't. Sony's answer? "Why don't you just use Android Auto voice commands". Well, because I live in an urban area and get in and out of my vehicle with my phone several times a day over short drives. If I was to plug my phone in and unplug it 5-10 times per day it wouldn't be long until I was replacing an $800 phone because the USB port was worn out, not to mention the hassle. It can make calls by accessing the phonebook on screen but why Sony, why would you not include this most basic function. Second issue I have is with one of my phones Poco X3 GT (Redmi Note 10 Pro) has a huge mic delay where the other person can't hear me for approx. 5 seconds after they answer the phone (usually they just hang up because nobody is there). This only happens with outgoing calls but it makes the "Voice Control with Android Auto" function almost useless. Yes I have updated the firmware to the latest 1.31, same issue. Sony blames the phone but it works fine on both my 2011 Ram 1500 uConnect head unit and wife's Kenwood 7706s head unit. Third issue is that ALL outgoing calls route the audio to the phones speakerphone if dialed through AA. I have tried everything with no fix, USB debugging, upgrade and downgrade Google and AA apps, cleared caches, half a dozen different cables, factory resets and even a warranty replacement AX5600 from Crutchfield. No fix. The fourth issue I have is that this unit doesn't support USB hubs. The problem with that is that if you have an Android phone and an iPhone you are constantly swapping cords because only one of the 2 USB inputs on the AX5600 supports AA/CarPlay. All things considered this unit has taken me back to basically using my phone on speakerphone and the only reason I haven't replaced it with another unit is Crutchfield has no stock on anything else in the price range. I'd also have to completely rebuild my harnesses to be compatible with another brand. Expected much much much better for the price.

Still not wireless Android auto or car play

XAVAX5600 24/05/2021 by michael69420 (USA)

Come on its 2021 where is this option? This is the only decent user interface that doesn't look like its clouded in useless garbage nobody uses after the first two weeks. But not wireless android auto or carplay. Would have been fine if the USB input actually put out more wattage to charge the phone while using android auto/carplay but every single sony headunit my phone would DRAIN. Making android auto and carplay useless if my phone can't stay charged or charging. Everything about this headunit is awesome but this is holding it back into 2015.
