How to remove or create a RAID volume.
Not all VAIO® computers include a RAID controller. Also, the RAID controller may be configured for RAID level 1 or 0 and the number of pre-installed SATA disk drives varies depending on the RAID level configured. To determine if your computer has a RAID controller and the RAID level configuration, check the specifications. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. When deleting or configuring a RAID volume all data on the hard drive, including applications and files, will be removed. Backup all data on the hard drive before proceeding.
IMPORTANT:
- Recovery discs are required to complete this procedure. If you do not have Recovery discs, you can create them using the VAIO Recovery Center software.
- For model-specific information about using the VAIO Recovery software, consult the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
- If your computer supports installing additional disk drives, make sure that you use identical SATA disc drives when possible. If you install drives that vary in size, storage capacity will be limited to the size of the smallest drive.
- Restart the computer and then at the initial VAIO screen, press the F2 key.
- In the BIOS Setup Utility screen, press the right-arrow key until the Advanced tab is highlighted.
- Press the down-arrow keys to until RAID Configuration is highlighted and then press the Enter key.

- Immediately, press the Ctrl + I keys to display the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager user interface.
NOTE: If the Intel Matrix Storage Manager user interface does not appear, restart the computer and try the previous step again.
