Disabling a Network Device from Waking the Computer from Standby Mode

    Follow the steps to allow a Network device to wake the computer from standby mode:

    1. Press the Start button, and select Control Panel.
    2. In the Control Panel window, select System and Maintenance.
    3. In the System and Security window, under System, select Device Manager.
    4. In the Device Manager window, click the Plus (+) button next to Network Adapters.
    5. Under Network Adapters, double-click the Network Device you want to configure.
      • The exact name of the Network Device will vary depending on your model computer.
    6. In the Network Device name Properties window, select the Power Management tab.
    7. On the Power Management tab, in the box next to Allow this device to wake the computer, click to add a check mark if you want the device to wake the computer.
      • Remove the check mark if you don't want the device to wake the computer from standby mode.
    8. Select the OK button.
    9. In the Device Manager window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.
    10. In the System and Security window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.
