How to set or modify the power management settings.
Follow the appropriate operating system steps to access the Power Options and view the available power plans. Once at the Power Options window, to modify the power settings within one or more of the available power plans (Balanced, Power saver, or High performance), click Change plan setting next to the plan you wish to modify.
Note: To prevent the computer from ever going to sleep, next to Put the computer to sleep, select Never.
Windows 10
- Click the Start button, and then click Settings.
- In the Settings window, click Power & sleep.
- In the Power & sleep window, under Related settings, click Additional power Settings.
- In the Power Options window, in the Preferred Plan section, click to select the desired power plan.
Windows 8.1
- Right-click any empty part of the desktop, and then click Personalize.
- In the Personalize window, click Screen Saver.
- In the Screen Saver window, click Change Power Settings.
- In the Power Options window, in the Preferred Plan section, click to select the desired power plan.
Windows 7
- Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, click System and Security.
- In the System and Security window, click Power Options.
- In the Power Options window, in the Preferred Plan section, click to select the desired power plan.
