My OLED TV screen suddenly gets brighter or darker

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

If your TV screen brightness suddenly changes, check the following:

    • Check the Auto luminance level, Ambient light sensor, Light and Color sensor, or Light sensor settings. If the sensor setting is On, the brightness of the TV screen changes to match the ambient lighting.

      Check the following:

      1. Open the Settings screen.
        • If the remote control has a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the Quick Settings button and select Settings.
        • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the HOME button and select Settings.
        • This step will depend on your TV menu options:
          • Select Display & SoundAmbient Optimisation ProAuto adjust according to ambient lightAdvanced settingsAuto luminance level.
          • Select Display & SoundPictureAmbient light sensor or Light sensorAuto luminance level.
          • Select Display & SoundPictureLight and Color sensorBrightness.
          • Select Display & SoundPictureLight sensor.
          • Select DisplayPictureLight sensor.
Notes: Light sensor or Ambient light sensor is located around the center of the bottom part of the TV screen.
    • Change the channel or the input source to see if the brightness returns to normal. When an image is displayed on the screen that may easily cause image retention, the brightness gradually reduces to protect the TV from image retention. The brightness returns to normal if you change the screen or perform another action that eliminates the risks of image retention.

Note: This function activates frequently because the HOME screen and the top screen apps contain bright still images.

      1. Open the Settings screen.
        • If the remote control has a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the Quick Settings button and select Settings.
        • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the HOME button and select Settings.
