If there is dust or dirt covering the eye sensor, clean it.
Depending on your camera, check the monitor display settings:

For models with the LIVE VIEW/OVF switch:
Set the switch to LIVE VIEW.
- If the switch is set to OVF, the LCD monitor turns off every time you'll look through the viewfinder.

For models with the FINDER/LCD button:
Press the FINDER/LCD button and check if the display switches back to the monitor. If it doesn't, try the additional steps below. Check if the display switches after completing each step.
- Make sure that nothing blocks the eyepiece sensors including any part of the eyecup.
- If the FINDER/LCD Setting is set to Auto, and something blocks the proximity sensors in the viewfinder, the LCD turns off and the display switches to the viewfinder.
- Set the FINDER/LCD Setting to Manual.
- While looking through the viewfinder, press the Menu button.
- Go to Custom Settings.
- Select FINDER/LCD Setting.
- Select Manual.

For models without the switch or the button:
Check if anything is displayed in the viewfinder.
- If the display is on the viewfinder:
- Make sure that nothing blocks the eyepiece sensors, including any part of the eyecup.
- If the FINDER/MONITOR is set to Auto, and something blocks the proximity sensors in the viewfinder, the LCD turns off and the display switches to the viewfinder.
- Set the FINDER/MONITOR to Manual.
- While looking through the viewfinder, press the MENU button.
- Select Custom Settings.
- Select FINDER/MONITOR.
- Select Monitor(Manual).
- If nothing is displayed both in the viewfinder and on the LCD:
- Connect the camera to an external monitor or a TV through an HDMI cable.
- Set the FINDER/MONITOR to Manual.
- While looking through the viewfinder, press the MENU button.
- Select Custom Settings.
- Select FINDER/MONITOR.
- Select Monitor(Manual).
If the issue still occurs after performing the steps above, the camera may need to be repaired.  Go to Product Repair.
