How to copy video from a camcorder with a hard disk drive to an Apple Macintosh computer.

You can transfer the video from your camcorder using the Apple® iMovie® software; support is available at https://www.apple.com/support/imovie/. If Apple iMovie software is not installed on your computer, follow the alternative steps below to copy the video from the camcorder.

IMPORTANT: The Macintosh® computer requires an Intel® Core Duo processor or better to support AVCHD video.

      1. Turn on the computer.
      2. Make sure the camcorder is turned off.
      3. Connect the camcorder to the computer using the supplied USB cable.
      4. Plug the AC power adapter into an electrical wall outlet and then connect it to the camcorder.
      5. Open the LCD screen on the camcorder.
      6. Turn on the camcorder.
      7. Touch the Hard Disk USB SELECT [FIG.1] icon on the camcorder LCD screen.

NOTE: After the computer recognizes the connection, it will list the camcorder hard drive as NO NAME on the computer desktop.

      8. Click the NO NAME icon on the computer desktop.
      9. Locate the video files.

        For AVCHD video:

        1. Click the AVCHD folder.
        2. Click the BDMV folder.
        3. Click the STREAM folder.

        For Standard Definition (SD) video:

        1. Click the MP_ROOT folder.
        2. Click the 101PNV01 folder.

NOTE:  Troubleshooting information about importing MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 clips with Apple iMovie software is available on the Apple Macintosh Web site.

      10. On the keyboard, press and hold the Shift key.
      11. While holding the Shift key, click to select the video clip files you want to transfer.
      12. Release the Shift key.
      13. On the keyboard, press Command+C [FIG. 1] to copy the files.
      14. Open the folder or directory on the computer where you want to copy the video.
      15. On the keyboard, press Command+V [FIG. 1] to paste the files into the desired location.

After following the steps above, the video from your camcorder will be copied to the hard drive of the computer. You will need to have a movie player application that supports MPEG-2 for standard-definition video or AVCHD for high-definition video to open and play these files. Refer to the software manufacturer of the movie player application you are using for additional information and any available updates.
