Unable to complete a system recovery because no restore points are detected when using the recovery discs.
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
When using the recovery discs to restore the complete system to the original Windows Vista® operating system, the recovery may not complete and a No restore points message may be displayed if the computer has been downgraded to the Windows® XP operating system.
This issue may occur if you choose Windows System Restore in the Before Restore Complete System window during the recovery even if you created System Restore points in the Windows XP operating system because the Windows System Restore option from the disc only is compatible with System Restore points created in the Windows Vista operating system.
WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. All data on the recovered hard drive will be lost.
To resolve the issue, during the system recovery, in the Before Restore Complete System window, choose the Skip option and then continue with the normal recovery procedure.
NOTE: For model-specific information about performing a system recovery, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
