How to transfer pictures and videos to a smartphone using the Imaging Edge Mobile app
IMPORTANT: The Imaging Edge Mobile app must be installed on your smartphone or tablet. Visit the Google Play™ store or Apple® store on your device to download and install it.
Before you start
- If Imaging Edge Mobile is installed, make sure it's the latest version.
- If transferring video, only content recorded in the MP4 format will be imported.
- Imaging Edge Mobile cannot import videos recorded in the AVCHD format.
- If your smartphone is connected to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), be sure to disable the VPN as it may interfere with the connection to the camera.
Transfer of images and video
The procedure may differ depending on your camera. Select your camera from the Imaging Edge Mobile website to confirm the procedure.
- Press the Playback button on the camera to enter the playback mode.
- Press the Send button.
- If you can't use the Send button because of a custom key set, then try:
MENU → Network → Send to Smartphone Func. → Send to Smartphone → Select on this device.
- If you can't use the Send button because of a custom key set, then try:
- Select the images you want to transfer. A QR code is shown on the camera.
- Launch Imaging Edge Mobile on the device.
- When connecting the camera for the first time, select Camera Connection/Registration.
- You can view the videos that cover this option for iOS® or Android™ devices or skip to the more detailed steps.
- Select Register the following model (ILME-FX3 or ILCE-7M4) or Register other models (all others) → Scan QR Code.
- If the camera is already registered, then select it under the Camera List.
Note:
- If you want to connect using a method other than scanning a QR code, choose one of the following in the Imaging Edge Mobile app:
- NFC
- Select Connect with the camera through One-touch (NFC) and follow the instructions.
- SSID/Password
- On the camera: From the Send to Smartphone display, press the Delete button to display the SSID and password.
- On the device: Select Connect using the camera SSID/password and enter the information.
- NFC
- If you want to connect using a method other than scanning a QR code, choose one of the following in the Imaging Edge Mobile app:
- The selected images will download to the device.
Notes:
- RAW images will be converted to JPEG and sent.
- When RAW & JPEG or RAW & HEIF is selected, only JPEG or HEIF images will be sent.
- To send XAVC S 4K movies or the original data of XAVC S HD movies recorded in 120p/100p to an iPhone®, use an iPhone 8 or later model.
- Depending on the device, the transferred movie may not be played back correctly. For example, the movie may not play smoothly, or there may be no sound.
