True beauty shines through
The new OLED display with High Dynamic Range (HDR) support is simply amazing. Whether watching a movie with HDR or just browsing the web, the picture is extremely detailed with exceptional colour and contrast.
The new X1™ for mobile image processing engine from Sony’s renowned BRAVIA TVs elevates your standard, non-HDR content to near HDR quality. So no matter what you’re watching, you’re going to get the most detailed, contrast-rich picture possible.
Creator mode
Another new feature for all you cinema lovers is Creator mode. Professional creators and studios worldwide use Sony’s professional 4K HDR OLED reference monitors capable of reproducing colour with accuracy and consistency. This is why we collaborated with the engineers behind the reference monitors to make Creator mode. Creator mode accurately reproduces the colours that the creator intended you to see. If you’re really into films, you need to check out Creator mode!
Camera tuned by the pros
The camera is one of the most important features on a smartphone and the Xperia camera delivers! There are tons of technology borrowed from Sony’s professional grade equipment like the award winning α cameras.
The world’s first Eye AF on a smartphone is one such feature which lets you take exceptional portrait photos, and the new hybrid image stabilisation system will make your videos smooth as silk.
The triple lens camera system lets you choose from three different lenses including the super wide and telephoto lens, an experience similar to switching lenses on a DSLR or mirrorless camera.
The team behind the legendary CineAlta professional movie cameras worked closely to create the Cinema Pro app which lets you choose settings and colour like the CineAlta cameras for the ultimate smartphone video production experience.
The big screen
Gamers are going to love the wider screen too! Game studios are producing 21:9 ready games and with the extra-wide field of view, you’re going to have an unfair advantage over your rivals!
The long display is also ideal for multitasking. You can split the screen to show two different apps on one screen and still not feel crammed. This is great for looking things up while texting or looking at the map app. The long screen will also come in handy when you’re following timelines on SNS or searching on the web.
Sound comes alive!
Be prepared to be blown away! Dolby Atmos support is here and it sounds seriously good. A lot of new movies and shows are streaming online with Dolby Atmos, and now you can enjoy the multi-dimensional surround sound on your Xperia device with any headphones! Dolby Atmos isn’t just about movies either. Turn on Dolby Atmos and all your music and videos will be enhanced, making them sound clearer with punchier bass.
Music fans who want their favourite songs to sound their best can count on Xperia for Hi-Res audio support. You can play Hi-Res audio files directly on your Xperia device and if you have compressed music files like MP3s, you can turn on DSEE HX™ to make them sound as good as Hi-Res files.
For all those who have gone wireless, the LDAC wireless codec lets you enjoy Hi-Res quality sound even through your Bluetooth® headphones. So grab your favourite pair of Hi-Res ready headphones and indulge yourself in music!
AI at your fingertips
With Side sense, you can have a little taste of AI in your daily routine. Just tap the edge of the screen and you’ll immediately see the apps that the AI have chosen based on your preferences and activities.
Side sense has menus for multi-screen too. Just swipe up on the edge of the screen and you can access your favourite multi-screen combinations in a flash. Again, you can see the AI at work, showing the apps you might choose for your multi-screen.
