How to modify the BIOS password feature on the notebook computer.
Follow this procedure to modify the BIOS password feature on the notebook computer.
- Restart the computer.
- When the Sony screen appears, press the F2 key.
- Press the RIGHT ARROW key to select Security .
- On the Security menu, press the DOWN ARROW key to select Set Machine Password .
- Press the ENTER key.
- In the Set Machine Password window, in the Enter New Password box, enter the desired password.
- In the Confirm New Password box, enter the desired password again.
- Press the ENTER key.
- In the Set Up Notice window, ensure Continue is selected, then press the ENTER key.
- Press the DOWN ARROW key to select Password When Power On: .
- Press the SPACE BAR to enable or disable the power on password feature.
- Enabling the power on password feature will require a password for the computer to start.
- Disabling the power on password feature will only require the password when accessing the computer BIOS.
- Press the ESC key.
- Press the F10 key to exit saving the changes.
- In the confirmation box, ensure YES is selected, then press the ENTER key.
NOTE: To remove a previous password, leave the Enter Current Password box empty.
