How to modify the BIOS password feature on the notebook computer.

    Follow this procedure to modify the BIOS password feature on the notebook computer.

    1. Restart the computer.
    2. When the Sony screen appears, press the F2 key.
    3. Press the RIGHT ARROW key to select Security .
    4. On the Security menu, press the DOWN ARROW key to select Set Machine Password .
    5. Press the ENTER key.
    6. In the Set Machine Password window, in the Enter New Password box, enter the desired password.
    7. NOTE: To remove a previous password, leave the Enter Current Password box empty.

    8. In the Confirm New Password box, enter the desired password again.
    9. Press the ENTER key.
    10. In the Set Up Notice window, ensure Continue is selected, then press the ENTER key.
    11. Press the DOWN ARROW key to select Password When Power On: .
    12. Press the SPACE BAR to enable or disable the power on password feature.
    13. NOTES:

      • Enabling the power on password feature will require a password for the computer to start.
      • Disabling the power on password feature will only require the password when accessing the computer BIOS.
    14. Press the ESC key.
    15. Press the F10 key to exit saving the changes.
    16. In the confirmation box, ensure YES is selected, then press the ENTER key.
