Cannot connect to a paired device via Bluetooth connection or there is no sound.

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

    After completing the pairing procedure and there is still no sound from the connected Bluetooth® audio device, perform the following steps to solve the issue and check if there is any sound coming from the Bluetooth audio device.

    NOTES:

    • The procedure differs depending on the Android™ version of your Walkman® player.
    • Electromagnetic waves of a microwave oven or radio waves of a wireless LAN may be using the same wave bands; therefore if there is a device with these waves nearby, change the location then try again.
    1. Make sure that the Bluetooth function of the Walkman player is enabled.

      • Android 4.0 or later

        1. Tap Apps on the Home screen.
        2. Tap settings Settings on the application list screen.
        3. Make sure that the Bluetooth function is enabled on the Settings screen. If the Bluetooth toggle is OFF, set the function to ON.
      • Android 2.3

        1. Tap menu Menu button on the lower right corner of the Home screen.
        2. Tap settings Settings.
        3. Tap Wireless & networks on the Settings screen.
        4. Make sure that the Bluetooth check box is enabled once the Wireless & networks screen is displayed. If the check box is unchecked, the Bluetooth function is disabled. Check the box to enable the function.
    2. Reconnect your Walkman player to the Bluetooth audio device. Turn the paired Bluetooth audio device on, and set it to Bluetooth discoverable mode.

      NOTES:

      • Refer to the manual of the device you want to connect to, on how to set the paired Bluetooth audio device to the discoverable mode.
      • If while performing the following steps, the name of the Bluetooth audio device you want to connect to does not appear, the pairing has not been completed. Perform the pairing procedure again.
        • Android 4.0 or later

          1. Tap Apps on the Home screen.
          2. Tap settings Settings on the application list screen.
          3. Tap Bluetooth on the Settings screen.
          4. Tap the Bluetooth device name you want to connect to from the Paired devices section.
          5. Wait until Connected is displayed under the name of the Bluetooth audio device. Once it displayed, the procedure is complete.
        • Android 2.3

          1. Tap menu Menu button on the lower right corner of the Home screen.
          2. Tap settings Settings.
          3. Tap Wireless & networks on the Settings screen.
          4. Tap Bluetooth settings on the Wireless & networks screen.
          5. Tap the name of the Bluetooth audio device you want to connect to from the list in the Bluetooth device section.
    3. Check if after restarting the Walkman player and Bluetooth audio device, the issues has been solved.
    4. If after performing all of the above, the issue has not been solved yet, unpair the device and perform the pairing procedure again.

      • Android 4.0 or later

        1. Tap Apps on the Home screen.
        2. Tap settings Settings on the application list screen.
        3. Tap Bluetooth on the Settings screen.
        4. Tap settings on the right of the name of the device you want to unpair from the list.
        5. Tap Unpair. Pairing ends.
      • Android 2.3

        1. Tap menu Menu button on the lower right corner of the Home screen.
        2. Tap settings Settings.
        3. Tap Wireless & networks on the Settings screen.
        4. Tap Bluetooth settings on the Wireless & networks screen.
        5. Tap BLUETOOTH on the Settings screen.

          NOTE: Once the Bluetooth settings screen is displayed, tap the name of the device you want to unpair from the list of Bluetooth device.

        6. Tap Disconnect & unpair.
