Output Audio to the soundbar/home theater system and TV

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and operating systems. Check this article's Applicable Products and Categories section before starting these steps.

Follow these steps if the TV and the soundbar/home theater system are connected with an HDMI cable and audio comes out of the TV's built-in speakers and the soundbar/home theater system simultaneously.
Note: For details about the connecting method or settings of the TV and the Soundbar, refer to the product manual or Help Guide. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

    1. Check the connection method and the Control for HDMI function
      • Make sure that the TV and the soundbar/home theater system are connected using an optical digital cable and an HDMI cable. Using only an Optical digital cable will cause the issue.
      • Make sure that the Control for HDMI or HDMI CEC function is set to On.
Hint: If the TV is a BRAVIA, check that the BRAVIA Sync control is set to On.
    2. Check the Speaker setting on the TV. Depending on the TV specifications or settings, the TV can output the sound to the TV and soundbar/home theater system. To output only from the soundbar/home theater system, check the following:
      • When Speakers are set to TV speakers, change the settings to Audio System.
      • When Speakers are set to Audio System, switch the settings to TV speakers once, and set it back to Audio System.
    3. The HDMI connection may only be detected if the above steps work. Follow these steps to re-activate the HDMI connection of the TV and the soundbar/home theater system:
      1. Turn off the TV and the soundbar/home theater system, and turn them on in the following order: TV → Soundbar.
      2. Check that the soundbar/home theater system turns on or off at the same time the TV power is on or off. This can verify if the HDMI function works well.

Note: If the soundbar/home theater system doesn't turn on or off along with the TV, follow these steps to activate the TV settings and recheck step 3.
