How can I tell if the charging case battery level is low or empty?

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

When you set the headphones in the charging case, you can check the approximate remaining battery level.

There are two ways to check the status of the charging case:

    • Check the remaining charge on the Sony | Headphones Connect app
      • For WF-1000XM3:
Firmware version 2.0.2 or later is required.
    • Check the remaining charge using the charging case indicator
      • For WF-1000XM5 / WF-1000XM4 / LinkBuds S (WF-LS900N) / LinkBuds (WF-L900) / LinkBuds UC (WF-L900UC) / WF-C700N:
Check the status of the indicator while the earbuds are NOT in the charging case.
Headphones removed from the charging case and the case indicator lighting patterns A and B

Note: You can't check the remaining charge of the case while it is recharging.

        • If the indicator on the charging case lights up in green (A):
          • The remaining battery charge is between 31% and 100%.
          • You can normally charge the earbuds using the charging case.
        • If the indicator lights up in orange (B):
          • The remaining battery charge is between 1% and 30%.
          • This means the remaining charge of the case is less than what you need to charge the earbuds fully.
          • We recommend charging the case.
        • If the indicator doesn't light up or it turns off immediately:
          • The remaining charge of the case is less than 1%.
          • The case should be recharged.
      • For WF-1000XM3 / WF-SP800N / WF-XB700 / WF-C500 / WF-H800:
Check the status of the indicator while the earbuds are in the charging case.

Note: You can't check the remaining charge of the case while it is recharging.

        • If the indicator on the charging case lights up in red:
          • The remaining battery charge is between 30% and 100%.
          • You can normally charge the earbuds using the charging case.
        • If the indicator lights up in red, but it flashes for about 15 seconds when closing the charging case:
          • The remaining battery charge is between 5% and 30%.
          • This means the remaining charge of the case is less than what you need to charge the earbuds fully.
          • We recommend charging the case.
        • If the indicator doesn't light up or it turns off immediately:
          • The remaining charge for the case is less than 5%, and you can't charge your headphones.
          • The case should be recharged.
