A USB flash drive is not working or is not being recognized by the computer.
If a USB flash drive, thumb drive, removable media or flash memory device is not recognized or showing in the operating system, or the chime does not notify you that a plug-and-play device has been connected, the Local Disk Manager service may not be enabled. Also, when viewing Disk Management, you may receive the error: Logical Disk Manager is disabled.
To resolve the issue, start the Local Disk Manager service and configure it to start automatically .
If you cannot start the service, enable the Local Disk Manager service manually using the following procedure:
- Click the Start button and then click Run.
- In the Run window, in the Open box, type: msconfig
- Click the OK button.
- In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
- On the Services tab, click to check the box next to Local Disk Manager.
- Click the OK button.
- In the System Configuration dialog box, click the Restart button to restart the computer.
