A USB flash drive is not working or is not being recognized by the computer.

    If a USB flash drive, thumb drive, removable media or flash memory device is not recognized or showing in the operating system, or the chime does not notify you that a plug-and-play device has been connected, the Local Disk Manager service may not be enabled. Also, when viewing Disk Management, you may receive the error: Logical Disk Manager is disabled.

    To resolve the issue, start the Local Disk Manager service and configure it to start automatically .

    If you cannot start the service, enable the Local Disk Manager service manually using the following procedure:

    1. Click the Start button and then click Run.
    2. In the Run window, in the Open box, type: msconfig
    3. Click the OK button.
    4. In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
    5. On the Services tab, click to check the box next to Local Disk Manager.
    6. Click the OK button.
    7. In the System Configuration dialog box, click the Restart button to restart the computer.
