There is no video when trying to use the built-in Motion Eye camera on the VAIO computer

The Motion Eye® camera built-in to VAIO® computers can be used as a webcam with several third-party messaging services and software for video editing and conferencing. If there is no video or a blank screen when attempting to use the webcam with a particular service or software, it is likely that the service or software is not properly configured to use the Sony Visual Communication Camera (Motion Eye). Click to select the desired application and follow the instruction provided to properly configure the camera.

IMPORTANT:To make sure that the Sony Visual Communication Camera driver is up to date and properly installed, download and install the latest Sony Visual Communication Camera update. Downloads are posted on your model support page.

    NOTES:

    • Turning on the computer activates the Motion Eye camera, but launching messaging or video editing software does not necessarily activate the camera within that software.
    • The Motion Eye camera cannot be shared by different applications. If another software application is using the camera, exit that software before attempting to use camera with a different application.
    • In order to have a successful video conference, the person you are calling must also have a webcam or video capture device, and must also have their messaging service software properly configured for video conferencing.
    • All of the third-party video editing and conferencing services and software referenced in this article can be obtained from the appropriate Web site.
