How to run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool.
The Windows Memory Diagnostic tool is a very useful utility for troubleshooting when the computer begins running slowly, freezes, hangs, displays a blue screen or reboots on its own, and can help detect problems with applications installed on the computer, whether caused by memory errors or not. The utility tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on the computer and reports any errors that are found. Follow this procedure to run the Windows Memory Diagnostics tool.
- Press the Windows Logo + W key combination to open the Search screen.
- In the Search screen, in the Search field type Diagnose your computer, and then press the Enter key.
- In the Windows Memory Diagnostic window, click Restart now and check for problems (recommended).
NOTE: The computer will automatically restart, the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool will run, and then the computer will automatically restart again.
- Review the error report that is displayed after logging into the operating system.
If the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool detects errors, service may be required.  Go to Product Repair.
