How to adjust the microphone settings in the mixer utility.
- Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category, double-click the Sound, Speech and Audio Devices icon.
- In the Sound, Speech and Audio Devices window, in the See Also box, click Advanced Volume Controls.
- On the menu bar, click Options.
- On the Options menu, click Properties.
- In the Properties window, in the Show the following box, ensure Microphone is selected.
- Click the OK button.
- In the Advanced Volume Controls window, under Microphone, ensure Mute is not selected.
- Adjust the volume slider to the desired level.
